talatat

The design of this kilim is inspired by the elongated limestone blocks used to construct ancient Egyptian buildings. Their standardised size and light weight allowed for more efficient construction. These blocks, also called „talatat“, were typical of the Amarna period in ancient Egypt. The design captures the aesthetic of these historic building elements, featuring stone blocks in a harmonious pattern. It exudes a subtle elegance and is reminiscent of the ornate architecture of the past.
